Hopelessly Holding
Ballad. Released October 23, 2000
I awoke from a dream late one evening, and had to record this song. I had played it for a few years, but it had never been so inclined to record it or score it. Originally written as a third movement to a Sonata, this short work is packed with emotion and beautiful piano work, making it quite capable of standing on its own as a solo piece. Since it was removed from the original Sonata it was to grace, it had floated in limbo for several years.
The original concept for this piece of music was a ballad or possibly even a modern nocturne. The direction did shift on me while I was writing it, and I ended up quite pleased with the results.
This piece is also the closing movement to White.
